Perfect steak.
Simple pleasures available on Queens Rd. every day of the week, but especially Fridays when the steak munchies arrive. Two fillet’s from Scotland courtesy of Archer’s. I like to imagine these are from an animal that has been gazing out across some Loch in the highlands. I hope it led an easy life and has enjoyed every minute of it. I don’t actually eat a great deal of meat, but when I do, I’m picky and this is the best by a long way. Fresh English asparagus, Lincolnshire new potatoes and wild mushrooms from Marian and Joe Peasgood’s round off the fare for Friday night. Washed down by a smooth Rioja I had stashed away, it was a perfect meal and not a Nectar Point in sight.

God, that looks good enough to eat! It might be because the asparagus I'm eating comes from a field up the road, but it seems particularly good this year. I also like the big plump German variety (asparagus that is) but don't think I've ever seen it in Britland.
I'm just going out of my door now to have my tea. Four pints of Marstons Bitter across the River Welland at the Wheel & Compass.
Lovely grub. Where was the asparagus from in Blighty? Did it say on the pack? And did it carry a warning that it might make your piss stink but it's nothing to be worried about although if the condition continues you should see you family doctor?
But Peter, I had four pints of Pedi, in preparation. Ron, Yes. Of course it had by full consumer rights written boldly on the reverse. You can't be too carefull these days.
ripper - fire up the barbie. MORE MEAT !
Don't leave that steak out much longer..............
