Not as warm as it looks.

Gazing out of the window one could be forgiven for thinking it was a hot summer’s day, but when I popped round to Queens Rd to post some letters there was a definite nip in the air. It is, after all, November and the leaves are falling quicker than International Bank profits. Here, for your amusement is the ‘new’ cafe, deserted, of course. But not just because of the weather. No. It’s THE WRONG SIDE OF THE LIGHTS! No-one, but no-one crosses Clarendon Park Road to head south into the abyss that is the other end of the Queens Road. In the other picture. The cultured end of Queens Road, is Polly’s standing proud, a specialist in that rather dated flouncy cotton clothing. Polly, a stalwart character, is selling up as trade is not brisk enough to keep this and her two other shops running. So, there’s a sale on and you could pick up a bargain in tie die Indian cotton. Light another joss stick and pass me a fat one.

You're right about the lights - "Queen's Road" is really the stretch between Howard Road and Clarendon Park Road. The rest is just void (except for the chippy of course).

Maybe you should open a book on how long the cafe will last (not as long as Polly's)?

Oh, another thing - what are those bollards outside Polly's for? (I really like the large size pictures)

Well done Toby. At least you've got stuff going on around you. Oh, a blackbird's just gone in the laurel hedge opposite.

Thanks for your interest regiopendler. The bollards went up all along Queens Rd last year to stop an irresponsible few parking on the pavement. They now park on the pavement in Montague Rd.

Peter, if you must live in the sticks that what you have to put up with! I'm trying to lure birds into my yard with three feeders. Two grossly overfed Blue Tits have turned their noses up in favour af a neighbours offerings.

Now Toby how can you call the other side of the lights an abyss now Mary and I are working there. The new cafe will last I am sure, I hope so. It is great for people watching especially when the owner and friends call by it is like Sopranos meets East Enders!

I think the Phil Mitchell lookalike character owns a number of other businesses along Queens Road, maybe he will buy Polly's and set up a shiney suit emporium.

Chloe, my dear. I only meant an abyss in terms of retail. For a top marketing company, such as your own, it is perfect. Cloese enough to the action, but quiet enough to concentrate. Love you assesment of the scene over the road. With a tummy like that he'd better not get too excited. Might Pop!
