Resident's Parking.

We have seen a victory for common sense here over the last week. The council was planning to impose a residents parking permit system. £25 to park outside your own house - no guarantee of a space, a quid a go for visitors, local businesses wiped out as shoppers unable to park and everybody getting thoroughly pissed off with parking tickets when they forget/don’t give the visitor a voucher/left the second car out by mistake. There was a heated meeting on Wednesday 3rd, as about a quarter of the residents would like a residents parking scheme. True. It is very difficult to find a space, but that is the price we pay for city living, for having good bars and restaurants on the doorstep, for a range of excellent local shops. Without free parking they would all loose custom, we would loose the ‘buzz’ of Queens Rd. and the whole area would slip back down the popularity scale. Those of us who have been here a while can remember the empty shops of the eighties. One pub and a couple of takeaways. The plan has been shelved for five years. Great.

You've really got me going here Toby, as Ray Davies once sang. Uppingham have introduced traffic wardens. Can you believe it? The town has enjoyed self-regulated parking since turnip wagons, and a warden turned-up on a moped once every two years if you were lucky. There is now a very nervous- looking bloke there every day, photographing cars and issuing tickets every five minutes. I am now going to start a revolt, thankyou.

The people who really get up my nose are those displayers of "Invalid Parking" badges who take their condition as leave to dump their cars anywhere. "I'm a cripple so I have 'the right'" seems to be their attitude....

Errrr..... Actually A F-A, my RHL has such a badge following the very succesful fitting of a ceramic hip just over a year ago. We milk it for all it's worth. We call it pay back time for countless previous tickets as we both skip away from the abandonned Micra..

I can forgive the lovely Jo ANYTHING....but not the fat b*****d in a Mercedes Coupe who parked outside NatWest on double yellow lines and nigh on blocked off my High Street!

Small government that's what we need. Local democracies like in Clazzy Park and your parking triumph. Now NuLabor is banning the display of fags in shops. Can't they just stop banning things? They are all c***s, without exception.

I agree. Let's meet up in the little room above the porch of Stoke Dry church, wear big-brimmed hats and then go and do 'em in. Bags I stick it to that Ed Balls first. Then 'is simpering missus.

Very good post to remember that these emails are still circulating, in addition to the advice you indicate, they are always very useful to take into account, in principle for all Internet users, but mainly for the less experienced, or seniors who are discovering the Internet and out of ignorance or fear of having their email account closed, agree to include their data, with the disastrous consequences. If you want to learn more about Buy resident permits Online you visit
